I got christmas lights for my window. They give off just enough heat to make the curtain puff up with warm air, which lifts the bottom of the curtain just high enough to let in the cold air from the leaky window.

Zach: Do you think bears are actually asleep the entire
time they're hibernating?
My dad: I don't know, I'd probably have to do some reading about it. They probably get up a few times to pee or something.
Zach: And the teenage bears don't come back to the den until like January.
My dad: Yeah, and then they get up in April and want to know where all the food is.

Dear readers, sorry if there’s too much jargon here. If confused, move along and don’t worry. (Or ask if you’re curious.) The iPod Touch and iPhone can both be used to send and receive serial data through the 20-pin connector. That means you should be able to make apps that physically plug into other devices and sensors and make them do stuff. The iPod Touch and iPhone also...

Now they’re predicting ten years until I can think, “set alarm 5min” and 5 minutes later a bell goes off,  or “message Nick gym 7:30?” and Nick gets an IM asking what time we go to the gym tomorrow. Or, “11in = ? cm” to get back “27.94”. A lot of people are probably like, “No way, I’m not turning myself...

John Gruber has been arguing that PC companies should make their own operating systems (like Apple does) instead of using Windows. Here’s what I don’t get about that: If you’re going to make your own operating system, the easiest, cheapest, and highest-quality way to go about it is to start with Linux and add your own interface and applications on top of it. In fact, this is...
